The historic water mill whose origins date back to the penultimate century can be seen from afar. Embedded in a beautiful natural landscape near the small town of Bettendorf in eastern Luxembourg, it is situated on the banks of the river Sauer. The complex comprises different buildings of varying heights with facades in warm earth tones which, together, form an impressive, harmonious ensemble. High up, on the gable end of one of the buildings, you can still clearly read the name of the former owner in weathered red lettering. In front of the mill is a dammed up lake from which the water is diverted to the millwheel. By force of this movement, energy is generated. The large grassland surrounding the mill offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Sauer meandering through the valley. This location exudes a decidedly atmospheric quality, transporting visitors to another time and place. On the other side of the building, the one facing away from the river, there is an enclosed plot of land, flanked laterally by a huge silo which towers above the entire terrain. The small rooms inside the buildings have, in part, fallen into disrepair and are, in part, used as storage facilities. An infrastructure would have to be put in place by the production. Parking is available.
