brief description:
the town of Noisseville, east of Metz, is mostly known for the Battle of Noisseville (August 31, 1870) during the Franco-Prussian War, at the conclusion of which the German Reich annexed Noisseville as a spoil of war. To commemorate the French soldiers who gave their lives during the war (1870/1871), this memorial was erected. Its inauguration on October 4, 1908 turned into one of the largest and most impressive pro-French demonstrations ever witnessed in the region while Alsace-Lorraine was under German occupation. At the end of November 1918, Noisseville was returned to France

coming from Saarbrücken, take the A320 and the A4 motorways going in the direction of Metz. Before you enter Metz, change onto the N431 trunk road going in the direction of Nancy. After approx. 1 km, take the Rue du Général Metman/N3 exit going in the direction of Courcelles-Chaussy and continue on the N3 for approx. 1,2 km. At the roundabout, take the third exit (D954). After approx. 2,3 km, you will see the memorial on the left side of the road
