brief description: 

the Canner Valley historic railway line dates back to the time between 1900 and 1950. It connects the Vigy station with the Hombourg-Budange station over a 12 km distance, passing through a classified natural heritage site of particular beauty, the picturesque Vallée de la Canner. The railway line belongs to the ALEMF (Association Lorraine d´Exploitation et de Modélisme Ferroviaire). Consequently, no trains other than the museum trains operate on this line, and no third party (including the SNCF, the French National Railway Association) need be considered with regards to obtaining a filming permission. The ALEMF is also proprietor of the Vigy station as well as its adjoining buildings and, again, the party to be contacted for a filming permission. The Budange station alone is leased by the ALEMF and belongs to the Réseau Ferré de France (the RFF is the company that owns and maintains the national railway network), whose permission must be obtained before filming can begin. The Vigy station dates back to 1907 and is still in its original state. The following trains and engines are serviceable: two steam locomotives (type Krupp 030 from 1931; type Hohenzollern 020 from 1900), two diesel jitneys (type BDR Y 6000 from 1934; type BDR from 1940), one railcar Decauville X 3800, and one steam railway crane Schneider from 1898

opening times: 
the museum train operates regularly for tourists on weekends and holidays from 01 May until the first weekend in October (as the schedule varies according to season, please contact the ALEMF for exact times of departure).

accessibility

car: 
to reach Vigy on the A4 motorway, take the Argancy exit and proceed in the direction of Malroy. When you reach the roundabout, follow the direction of Vigy. In town, the way to the museum train is clearly signposted (Train Touristique) to reach Hombourg-Budange, take the A31 motorway going in the direction of Nancy, Metz, Thionville, Luxembourg. Take exit no. 37.2 (Yutz) and follow the D918 secondary road going in the direction of Bouzonville-Saarlouis. In Hombourg, turn right in the direction of Budange, then turn left, going in the direction of the station (signposts will indicate the museum train as Train Touristique)
