standing in a beautiful, isolated setting on a south-facing slope above the village of Bollendorf near the Luxembourg border, you will find one of the most precious jewels of the Eifel region: Schloss Weilerbach is a Rococo manor house which was originally built in 1777 to serve as the administrative seat of an ironworks. Besides the château itself, other historic buildings, such as for example the caretaker`s lodge, can be found on the grounds. The ruins of the former ironworks have been preserved, as has the moat surrounding Schloss Weilerbach. After having undergone restoration works in the 1990s, the two-storey building was saved from decay and, today, shines in new splendour. The central element of the main facade is a gorgeous two-winged staircase which leads up to the portal and small balcony. The interior of the manor house has been completely modernised. Today, it houses a holistic health centre. The ballroom is frequently used for festivities such as wedding ceremonies, for example. The annexe buildings which used to be part of the ironworks complex are privately inhabited. They have also undergone renovations and are in excellent condition. The former carriage house accommodates a café/bistro with inside and outside seating areas and sanitary facilities. Rounding off the very well-kept ensemble is a historically authentic, expansive French formal garden with a charming, quite large pavilion, lovely fountains and a wonderful far-reaching view of the surrounding valley landscape.
