the Saarland School Museum in Ottweiler offers exhibits spanning 1000 years of school history. In two historic classrooms, visitors can gain an insight into the school life of bygone days. While the ground floor houses a classroom with original furnishings dating back to the years 1910 through 1950, the attic floor accommodates a 19th century classroom. Spread out over 7 rooms on 3 storeys, a wide variety of school-related aspects are illustrated, such as school & games, the first day of school, school life, reading, writing, math, fine arts, religion, social and cultural mannerisms, girls education, higher education, technical media, teacher training, teachers lives. The oldest exhibits date back to the 16th century. Amongst the rare documents on display are a handwritten math book from 1749, an alphabet book from 1777, and a copybook from 1834 with goose quill calligraphy
