interior architecture:
tall windows in the façade of the building (impressively illuminated, especially by night) offer a wonderful view onto the cathedral. The ceiling reaches a height of 4,40 m. It was fashioned French-style with exposed beams, painted white, building a nice contrast to the ceiling, painted red. This so-called plafond à la française rose to popularity after the French Revolution and its theme was revisited in the design of the bar. An equally striking design piece is the giant chandelier made out of empty bottles. A wine rack towers high behind the bar on the ground floor. The basement houses another bar with another impressive wine rack. The vaulted arches in the basement are supported by ancient stone pillars. Across from the bar, a small stage has been set up, on which Le Strapontin regularly presents diverse entertainment programmes
