the large-scale slag heap terrain on the outskirts of Creutzwald is completely surrounded by forested areas and, thus, virtually inaccessible to public view. The last French coal mine stood once on these grounds: the La Houve colliery was closed in 2004 and its buildings were, subsequently, demolished. With its large mounds and unsurfaced routes, the terrain should best be accessed by all-terrain vehicles
coming on the A4 motorway (Paris-Saarbrücken), take the St. Avold exit and continue on the N33 trunk road in the direction of Carling, Überherrn, Creutzwald
