brief description:

Situated in the heart of the Belgian town of Eupen, the impressive St. Nicholas Church was built in Renaissance style between 1721 and 1729. Its main portal made of stone is flanked by two towers with green roofs. The main entrance can be reached by crossing a small forecourt. The church interior, richly adorned in the Baroque style of Li%uFFFDge and Aachen, exudes a light, inviting atmosphere. The nave, covered with a stone mosaic, leads to the magnificent altar whose golden ornamentations, relics and statues set themselves apart from the simple white limewashed walls and the cupola. The wooden pews round off the ensemble in a harmonious manner. St. Nicholas is located on a busy through road which cannot easily be blocked. Parking is available next to the church, in front of the rectory. A crew room could also be installed in the rectory.
